WALLACE W. "WALLY" DEAN

Wallace W. "Wally" Dean, 57, of Robinson, IL, died at 10:55 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at his residence. He was born December 4, 1948 in Sullivan, IN, the son of Vernon Wayne Dean and Perlene Pittman Dean. He was advertising manager at the Robinson Daily News for 25 years. He was a member of the Sullivan, IN Lions Club, Robinson Lions Club, Robinson Jaycees, Robinson Elks Lodge # 1188, and a member of the Robinson First Christian Church where he served as a Church Board Monitor, an Elder, Choir Member and Song Leader. He served the City of Robinson as an Alderman for 9 years and Mayor for 8 years. He was a member of the Southern Illinois Mayor's Association, Robinson Planning Commission, Chairman of the Employee Relations Committee, Liquor Commissioner for 8 years, and Wabash Regional Coordinator. He served on the Executive Board of the Crawford County Development Association, created the Citizens Action Committee, was instrumental in preparing the new Zoning Ordinance book, and was involved in the Summer Recreation Program.

He married Jennifer Mitchell May 11, 2000 and she survives. He is also survived by 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Lynda Dean, Fairmount, IL, Eric and Stephanie Dean, Robinson, Shawn and Angie Harmon, Fishers, IN, Corey and Jennifer Harmon, Terre Haute, IN; 2 daughters and his son-in-law, Michelle and Jeff Barker, Dunlap, IL, and Shelby Bear, Columbus, IN; 11 grandchildren; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Rex and Connie Dean, Sullivan, IN, Claude and Rosemary Dean, Metuchen, NJ, and Roger Dean, Sullivan, IN; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon and Bill Myers, Robinson, Penny and Mike Reed, New Albany, MS; sister-in-law, Ann Dean, Sullivan, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, William Dean and 1 in infancy; and 1 sister in infancy.

Funeral services will at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 8, 2006 at the Robinson Community Center, Robinson, IL. with Rev. Jim Barnett officiating. Burial will be at the Center Ridge Cemetery, Sullivan, IN. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, May 7th at the Robinson Community Center. The Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Robinson Shrine Shelter at the City Park. Envelopes will be available at the Goodwine Funeral Home and at the Community Center.
