ROBERT LEO GUESS
Robert Leo Guess, 74, of Robinson, IL, died at 1:50 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2006 at the VA Illiana Health Care System, Danville, IL. He was born November 12, 1931 in Crawford County, IL, the son of Traverse Guess and Mabel (Bennett) Guess. He was a retired carpenter with the Carpenter's Union #337, Mattoon, IL. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was Past Master of the Robinson Masonic Lodge #250 and was a member of the Danville Consistory, the Robinson American Legion Post #69, and the Highland Church of Christ.
He married Mary H. Dunlap January 23, 1953 and she survives. He is also survived by his son, Robert W. Guess, Robinson; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Bill Sempsrote, Robinson, Patricia and Steve Slaughter, Tuscola, IL; 8 grandchildren, Billy Sempsrote, Bryan Sempsrote, Brett Sempsrote, Travis Guess, Krystina Guess, Amber and her spouse, Shane Ring, Andrea Slaughter and Adam Slaughter 3 great grandchildren; Monica Sempsrote, Lennon Sempsrote, and Addyson Ring; 1 sister and brother-in-law, Maude and Chester Carrie, Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Traverse Guess, Jr. and Frank Guess; and 2 sisters, Loretta Guess and Sally Tuttle.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2006 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson with Pastor Gene Fox officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Palestine AmVets Post #33, Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, Robinson American Legion Post #69, and Flat Rock American Legion Post #132. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, July 23rd. at the funeral home. Masonic services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 23rd following visitation with the Robinson Masonic Lodge #250 in charge of services. Memorial may be made to the Alzheimer's Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
