MARY "ZELMA" LEWIS

Zelma Lewis, 105 of Oblong, IL, died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at Crawford County Convalescent Center, Robinson. She was born November 2, 1900 in Hunt City, IL, the daughter of Edgar Turnipseed and Laura Roberts Turnipseed. She was a clerk, and a member of the Oblong Central Methodist Church and Oblong American Legion #219 Auxiliary.

She married O. B. Lewis and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, Harold Lewis; and an infant son; 4 brothers, David, Prentiss, George, and Mavin Turnipseed; and 2 sisters, Beulah Barker and Opal Rodgers

She is survived by her grandson and his wife, Jerry D. and Ruth Lewis, Oblong; her granddaughter, Gayle Lewis, Oblong; 4 great grandchildren, Michelle Lewis, Kelso, WA, Kelly Wells, Bellaire, Justin Lewis, Oblong, Trinity Lewis, Oblong; 7 great-great grandchildren; and 1 sister, Artella Frichtl, Little Rock, AK.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2006 at Mound Cemetery, rural Jasper County, IL. Memorials may be made to the Oblong American Legion Post #219. Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
