Virginia M. Ridgway, 83, Flat Rock, IL died at 2:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN. She was born June 28, 1923 in Robinson Township, IL the daughter of Everett G. Wilson and Zella May Smotherman Ridgway. She was a teacher at Oak Ridge School and then at Parkview School in Lawrence County, IL for several years. After her retirement, she owned and operated an antique shop. She was a member of the Robinson First United Methodist Church and attended the Oak Ridge United Methodist Church. She was a club leader with the Saucy Sisters 4 H Club and belonged to the Ladies Quilting Club at her church and Illini Quilters Club.
She married John A. Ridgway on June 29, 1941 and he preceded her in death on December 31, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her son J. Lee Ridgway; 2 brothers, David E. Wilson and Bobby Lee Wilson in infancy.
She is survived by 2 daughters and her son-in-law, Kaye and Bill Damron, Flat Rock, and Ninette Faith, Fort Worth, TX; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law, Nina Lou and Bill Baird, Peoria; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are Friday, August 25th at 10 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Burial is in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be made to the Oak Ridge United Methodist Church with envelopes at the funeral home.
