DON M. STEWART
Don M. Stewart, 76, of Newton, IL, formerly of Robinson and Palestine, died at 1:27 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2006 at his son's residence in Newton. He was born September 22, 1929 in Crawford County, IL, the son of Charles Otto Stewart and Elva McClellan Stewart. He served in the U. S. Army and the U. S. Air Force. He was an Illinois State Police officer from 1957-1964. He was a groundman on a CIPS line crew for 25 years retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Robinson Moose Lodge, Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, Robinson American Legion Post #69, and the Duncanville Baptist Church.
He married Jacqueline Thompson October 14, 1955 and she survives. He is also survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Larry Don and Lisa Stewart, Palestine, Dennis Dean and April Stewart, Newton; 3 grandchildren, Jacqueline E. Chlebowski, Robinson, Don Wesley Stewart, Flora, IL, and Kaycee Dawn Stewart, Palestine; 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 9 brothers, Loren M, Glenn, John Nolan, Guy, Kenneth LeMoyne, Robert, Roy, Melton, and Charles Stewart; and 3 sisters, Christine Hayes, Roberta Billingsly, and Alice Conrad.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson, IL with Rev. John Conover officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the combined Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, Robinson American Legion Post #69, Flat Rock American Legion Post #132, and Palestine AmVets Post #33. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 11th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the V. F. W. Post #4549 Transportation Fund.
