Betty L. Richards

Betty L. Richards, 84, of West Union died at 9:39 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2014. She was born March 7, 1930 in Hayes, Kansas, the daughter of Thel & Naomi Stanfield. She was a bus driver for the Hutsonville School District for several years, and had several other jobs, but was mostly a help-mate for her husband for 50 years. Betty married Randal Richards in September, 1957, and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Michael Richards; her brothers & sisters, Ralph Cornwell, Ruby Cornwell, Garnet Cornwell, Kenny Stanfield, Bud Stanfield, Pauline Pinkston, and Lorrine Gard. She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Gary & Barbara Richards (West Union, IL); her daughter & son-in-law, Debby & Gary Green (Marshall, IL); her daughter-in-law, Karen Richards Monahan (Philadelphia, PA); her grandchildren, Kelly Green Crumrin (Robinson, IL), Shannon Green (Carbondale, IL), John Richards (Terre Haute, IN), Joe Richards (Terre Haute, IN), Emily Richards (West Union, IL), and Cecelia & Dylan Monahan (Philadelphia, PA); 12 great-grandchildren; her sister, Rosemary Daugherty (West Union, IL); as well as several nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17 at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union, IL. Burial will follow in the Bailiff Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Bailiff Cemetery Fund, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
