Beverly Harness, 76, of Robinson, died at 4:08 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 2, 1940 in Willow Hill Township in Jasper County, IL, the daughter of George Fear & Alene Byrom Fear, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Florence Utley Britton. Bev married Elmer Harness on June 26, 1960, and he survives. She is also survived by her children & their spouses; Cindy & Barry Chapman (Robinson, IL) and Kevin & Carla Harness (Zionsville, IN); by six grandchildren, Zach Condrey, Josh Crawford, Emily Chapman, Carmen Chapman, Nicholas Harness, and Ellarie Harness; by her sisters, Marcella Whalen (Newton, IL), Connie & Robert Keller (Newton, IL), and Bonnie Fear (Effingham, IL); by two brothers, Richard & Thelma Fear (Robinson, IL) and Raymond & Fonda Fear (Newton, IL); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was a 1958 graduate of Newton High School. She went on to work for the Dana Corporation (Victor Reinz Division) for 28 years. Away from work, she enjoyed reading and watching her grandchildren’s ballgames. She was an avid St Louis Cardinal’s fan, and also enjoyed Fighting Illini Basketball. She will long be remembered for her love of travel and could often be found visiting relation throughout the country. More than anything, Bev loved and cared for her family, who has lost a mentor and friend. She was a breast cancer survivor of eight years, and the strength and courage she displayed will never be forgotten. She was a longtime and active member of the Robinson First United Methodist Church. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 10th at the Robinson First United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 11th at the church with Pastors Jay Regennitter and Rick Britton officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Westlawn Cemetery (Newton, IL). There will be a funeral dinner held at the church following the graveside service. Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Relay for Life or to the Robinson First United Methodist Church, with envelopes available at the church. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
