Emma S. Butts

Emma S. Butts, 96 of rural Palestine, IL, formerly of Sycamore, IL, died at the Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL at 11:31 p.m., March 16, 2013. She was born July 28, 1916 in Dewey, IL, the daughter of Christian and Freda Carle Sommer. She married John Butts on December 11, 1940 and he preceded her in death on May 7, 1967. She was also preceded by her parents; her two sons George and Howard Butts; 4 sisters; and 8 brothers.She is survived by her 2 daughters and son-in-law, Lois D`Elia, Round Hill, VA, Carolyn and Jack Brannon, rural Palestine; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Jill Butts, Viceroy, CA, David Butts, Tunnel Hill, GA, and Richard Butts, Big Bear, CA; her daughter-in-law, Mary Butts, Sycamore, IL; 30 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.There will be cremation with a memorial service at the 1st Baptist Church, Sycamore at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 22nd, with burial to follow in the South Burlington Cemetery, Kane County, IL. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
