Gerald "Goat" Watts

Gerald “Goat” Watts, 77, of Robinson, formerly of Palestine, died Wednesday April 23, 2014 at 5:35 p.m. in the comfort of his home. He was born in Robinson on November 29, 1936, the son of John F. Watts & Rosetta Doyle Watts. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. He belonged to the Illinois Carpenter Union, the Flat Rock American Legion, and was a regular at the Palestine Village Inn. Gerald married Carolyn Carlyle on July 18, 1957 and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Lori Fear; his grandson, Roger Cornwell Jr; his granddaughter Kinsey Fear; his two brothers, Everett Watts & wife Shirley of Robinson, Jerry Watts & wife Norma of Robinson; his four sisters, Mabel Eaton of Robinson, Linda Zulueta of Robinson, Beulah Shipman & husband Larry of Robinson, Christine Clause & husband Mike of Flat Rock; his great-grandchildren Roger Cornwell III, Sallee Cornwell and Landen Cornwell; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother in infancy, his brothers John Watts Jr, James “Bud” Watts, Robert Watts, and his sister, Betty Miller. According to his wishes, Gerald will be cremated and there will be no public services. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
