Harold Eugene "Pee Wee" Lankston

Harold Eugene “Pee Wee” Lankston, 69, of Palestine, IL, died at 7:35 PM on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Heritage Health in Robinson, IL. He was born September 9, 1947 in Palestine, the son of Harold Lankston & Ruth Maddox Lankston, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his son, Shawn Lankston. He is survived by seven grandchildren, Mary Jo, Kirstin, Nikki, Greg, Tristin, Alex, Allie; by his sister & brother-in-law, Marsha & Marion Bliss (Oblong, IL); by his nephews, Toby Bliss (Centralia, IL) and Cody & Lacey Bliss (Oblong, IL); by three great-nephews; by his special friends, Janice Windes, Katrina Schifler, and Aubrey Schifler; and by his beloved dog, KJ. He is also survived by his former wife & daughter-in-law, Debbie Lankston and Samantha Lankston; as well as an uncle and a host of cousins. Gene was a 1965 graduate of Palestine High School. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army. Back home, he worked for Victor-Dana for 35 years, and was an officer for Local #2293. Away from work, he could often be found outdoors, riding four-wheelers, fishing, and spending time at his campsite in Hutsonville. He will long be remembered as a buddy, a man who would do anything for those he cared for. Gene lived a good and fun-filled life. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 1st at the funeral home, with burial following in the Palestine Cemetery. Pastor Rob Windes will officiate services. Memorials may be made to the Exotic Feline Rescue Center, which provides permanent homes for exotic felines that have been abused or abandoned. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
