Mark A. Parker

July 29, 1963 — January 17, 2018

Mark Parker, 54, of Robinson, IL, died at 1:08 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at his home. He was born July 29, 1963 in Robinson, IL, the son of Larry Lee Parker, Sr. & Marsha Lou (Simmers) Parker. Mark grew up in the Flat Rock area and graduated with the Robinson High School Class of 1982. He married Debra “Debbie” Ann Mattox on January 3, 1986, and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Whitney Parker (Indianapolis, IN); by his mother, Marsha Lou Parker (Robinson, IL); by his siblings, Larry Lee Parker Jr. & wife Pam (Flat Rock, IL) and Teresa (Parker) Weger (Robinson, IL); by his mother-in-law, Ann Stoecklin & husband Don; by his sisters-in-law, Susan Hagen & husband Ed, Lesa Seals & husband Dean, and Kristen Jacobs & husband Scott; by his nieces and nephews, Josh Weger, Courtney Weger, Curtis Parker & wife Crystal, Emilee Fitzwater, Kelsey Hagen, Justin Hagen, Andrew Seals, Camden Seals, Olivia Jacobs, Zachary Jacobs, and Ethan Jacobs; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nephews, and great friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Lee Parker, Sr.; and by his father-in-law, Frank Mattox. Mark was an active member of his community, and was involved with numerous organizations. He was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, of the Flat Rock Masonic Lodge #348 (where he was a Past Master), and also served as a committeeman and team member for the Relay for Life of Crawford County. He was even called to help many times with Girl Scouts. He worked for Robinson Transformer for 26 years before moving on to become a guard for Stewart Security. Away from work, Mark could often be found cheering on his beloved Chicago Cubs or Chicago Bears, and was also an avid NASCAR fan. His love of sport was evident in his playing fast-pitch softball at Flat Rock for several years. Although he loved to aggravate them, his family was important to him. He found great joy in simply spending time with them, including his beloved granddog, Karma. They have found peace in knowing that Mark had accepted Christ into his life as an adult, and that he is currently experiencing the love of his Savior in eternal paradise. A time of visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 21st at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Masonic services will be conducted by the Flat Rock Masonic Lodge #348 at 7:00 p.m. following the visitation.
