Ronald Eugene Waldrop, 67, of rural Robinson, IL, died at 7:46 p.m. (EST) Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN. He was born June 18, 1946 in Robinson, IL, the son of Noble Waldrop and Mary Ruth Gaddis Waldrop. He graduated from Oblong High School in 1964. Ron served his country in the U. S. Army in Vietnam. Back stateside, he owned and operated Ron€™s Furniture from 1987 until his health forced him to retire in 2007. He was a lifetime member of the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549. A Cubs fan, Ron also loved to golf and to collect canes and marbles.Ron married Julia Langley on February 26, 1972 and she survives. He is also survived by his 3 sons, Ed of Clinton, IL, Ron of Hutsonville, IL, and Lynn of Destin, FL; 3 daughters & sons-in-law, Retha & David Shreve, Destin, FL, Rhonda & Chris Krause, Robinson, and Gina of Centralia; 2 brothers and his sister-in-law, Larry & Toni Waldrop, Robinson, and Jerry Waldrop, Robinson; 2 sisters & his brothers-in-law, Sharon & Gerald Bricker, Hardinville, Judy & Steve Young, Robinson; 17 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and lots of nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Charles and James Waldrop; his sister, Beverly; and his son, Allen Waldrop.A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 14th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson with Brother Joe Griffith officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until service time at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2013 at the Robinson New Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by the combined units of the Palestine Am Vets Post # 33, Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549; Robinson American Legion Post #69, and the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132.
