Alice Evelyn Carter

Alice Evelyn Carter, 90, of Flat Rock, IL, died at 12:30 a.m. on Sunday January 28, 2018 at the Heritage Health in Robinson, IL. She was born February 22, 1927 in West York, IL the daughter of James Ray Cole & Goldie Marie (Hardin) Cole, both of whom preceded in her death. She married Wayne “Red” Carter on June 19, 1945 and he preceded her in death on May 4, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Ann Kennedy; and by her sisters, Reba Cafin and Louise Kimmel. She is survived by her children, Claude William & Neva Jean Carter (St. Elmo, IL), Bruce Wayne & Edie Carter (Robinson, IL), Walter Leon & Becky Carter (NM), and Sheila Marie & Bobby Wayne Wilson (Flat Rock, IL); by 9 grandchildren; as well as many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Evelyn grew up in the Duncanville, IL and was a graduate of Robinson High School. Out of school and married, she dedicated her life to making their house a home. Much of the time she spent outside was spent in her garden, where she grew countless vegetables that would likely end up canned by her own hand. She was an avid quilter and also crocheted for many years. Anyone who knew Evelyn could attest to the fact that she truly enjoyed her life. Family and friends alike will remember fondly her fun and loving spirit for years to come. She was a longtime member of the Flat Rock First Christian Church. A time of visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm. on Monday, February 5th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home, with burial immediately following at Jones Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Robinson Food Pantry, with envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
