Alverna Mae Sitzes

Alverna M. Sitzes, 68, of Red Bud, IL, died at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Belleville, IL, Sunday, January 4, 2009. She was born May 6, 1940 in Palestine, IL, the daughter of Franklin Staten and Christine Hutton Staten. She retired as President of Imperial Industries.She married James Sitzes March 24, 1965 and he survives. She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James II and Margaret Sitzes, Red Bud, IL; her sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Michael McNurlan, Sandwich, IL; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 brother, William Staten; 1 half brother, Robert Staten; and an infant brother.Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Koch-Liefer Funeral Home, Red Bud, IL. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 8, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Friday, January 9, 2009 at the funeral home in Palestine. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine. Memorials may be made to the Fox Valley Lutheran Academy, 220 Division St., Elgin, IL, 60120 with envelopes available at the funeral home.
