Annette Barszcz passed away peacefully on February 15, 2014 at Magnolia Center (Long Term Care) at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL. Born Antonia Reizer on September 14, 1919, in Brownsville, PA, she was one of four children born to Antoni and Catherine Reizer. She grew up in West Frankfort and Chicago, IL. In Chicago she met her husband of 60 years, Michael Barszcz (U.S. Army Colonel, Ret.). They traveled with his Army career and she cared for him and their family through many moves in this country and overseas. Her beloved Mike died in 2001. She was an ardent Chicago Cubs fan and card player and plied her green thumb both indoors and out. She spent the last five years at the Long Term Care unit at Crawford Memorial Hospital cared for by kind, compassionate people. Surviving are three children: Michele (Don) Nash of Robinson, Michael Barszcz of Buffalo,NY, and Susan (Scott) Stitt of Springfield, IL. 'Busia' will also be missed by five grandchildren, Michael Barszcz, Douglas Barszcz, Katie Esposito, Robert Stitt, and Quinn Stitt; and six great-grandchildren. Her sister-in-law, Helen Reizer, of Chicago, also survives. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 20th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, with visitation being held from 5:00 p.m. until service time on Thursday. She will be buried at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield with her husband at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 21st. The family requests no flowers but know Annette would appreciate memorials to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Robinson.
