Arlene Kay Matheney, passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the age of 69. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout her very memorable life.Arlene was born December 4, 1942 in Crawford County, Illinois to Wilbur and Dorothy Dunlap. She worked for Victor Dana for over 20 years. Arlene was known for her quilt-making, a passion that she used to bless various charities over several years. What she was more passionate about was spending time with friends and family at home, and tending to her flowers.Arlene€™s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understand that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. She will never be forgotten by anyone that has ever met her.She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Juanita Brown, Mary Collins, and Delores French; and one brother-in-law, Donald Agan.She is survived by her best friend Gary Matheney (Flat Rock); three sisters, Betty Agan (Palestine), Alice & Kenny Coonce (Robinson), and Judy & Joe Plummer (Stoy); one brother, Harold & Tonja Dunlap (Flat Rock); 2 brothers-in-law, Ed Collins, Flat Rock and Dave French, Newton; four children, Wilbur & Jody Myers (Marshall), Dottie & Paul Shields (Robinson), Millie & Chris McGee (Sullivan, IN), and Ryne & Michelle Matheney (Robinson); as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 31st at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock, with Pastor Paul Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the Jones Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 30th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Relay for Life, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
