Avis May Mccord

Avis May McCord, 89, of Robinson, formerly of Palestine, IL, passed away on Friday, November 16th, 2012 at Crawford County Memorial Hospital. Avis was born in Flat Rock, IL on January 26th, 1923, the daughter of Lloyd and Stella (Powden) Adams in Flat Rock, IL. She married Robert O. McCord on March 22nd, 1941; he preceded her in death on December 31st, 1998. Avis was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and was a member of the 1st Christian Church in Palestine.Mrs. McCord is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Ray and Fay Adams; and a great-grandson, Nicholas McCord.Survivors include children, Larry McCord and wife Connie of Mt. Vernon IL, Carrol McCord and wife Marsha of Oblong IL, Robert O McCord Jr. and wife Frances of Palestine IL, Brenda Reed and husband Larry of Eugene OR, Marsha Jackson and husband Jim of Mattoon IL and Rita Elder of Robinson IL; 15 grandchildren, Scott McCord, Doug McCord, Duane McCord, Darra McCord, Randy McCord, Tammy Davis, Angie Keeler, Matt McCord, Brian Siria, Brent Reed, Dan Duhamell, Jason Duhamell, Justin Lassen, Ryan Lassen; 23 great grandchildren; and sisters Mary Creed, Bonnie Hudson and Ola Meyers all of Palestine.Funeral services will be held at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine on Tuesday, November 20th at 10am. Burial will follow at the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6-8pm on Monday, November 19th. There will also be a time of visitation preceding the services on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
