March 11, 1929 — July 30, 2019

Bernetta Rae Williamson, 90, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at the Magnolia Center in Robinson, Illinois. She was born on March 11, 1929, in Palestine, Illinois, the daughter of Carl C. White and Ruth Baker White. She graduated from Palestine High School in 1947. On June 8, 1949, she married Marion J. Williamson, and he preceded her in death in 2012. She was also preceded in death by her youngest sister, Beverly White Fritchie in 2010. She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Gary) Sweat; her son, Gary Williamson; her grandsons, John Sweat, Craig (Renu) Williamson, and Kent (Cynna) Williamson; and her great-grandchildren, Devin and Emily Williamson. Also surviving Bernetta are her siblings, Bruce White, Blanche McDaniel, Betty Newlin, brother-in-law, Walter (Barb) Fritchie, Jr., and several nieces and nephews. Bernetta was a typical farmer’s wife. In her early years, she raised chickens and milked cows. She always put out a large garden for her family. She was known for her cooking and baking skills and later in life became an accomplished seamstress sewing for herself and Karen. She enjoyed socializing with her family and going on outings to Terre Haute. A special thank you to the staff at Brookstone Estates where she resided for several years and especially for the wonderful staff at Magnolia Center for all the support and care they provided to Bernetta and her family. As per her wishes, she will be cremated with no visitation and a private graveside service will be held at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery, Palestine, Illinois. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of the arrangements.
