Bernita L. Chamblin, 95, of Robinson died at 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Heritage Health in Robinson. She was born October 15, 1919 in Hardinville IL, the daughter of John and Edith (Davis) King. She worked as a nanny and housekeeper in her youth, having a talent with the sick, infants especially. She had many hobbies throughout her life, including refinishing antiques, frequenting auctions, china painting, gardening, swimming, traveling and collecting antiques, jewelry, crystals, rocks, pigs, frogs, clothes and books. She believed strongly in astrology and lived by watching the signs. She eloped with Jim Chamblin on August 3, 1941, and he preceded her in death on September 24, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her sisters and brothers-in-law Zola and Lavern Shaffer, Florence and Dude Connett, and Vera and Charlie Crampton. She is survived by two daughters, Nita Jane Chamblin (Robinson, IL) and Cindy & Pat Sparks (Palestine, IL); three grandchildren, William James “B.J.” Sparks and Mendy, Jessica and Sean Bonesteel, and Erin and Bradley Reinbold; great-grandchildren; Kyra, Alexandria, Brylee Sparks, Makinley, Kaden, Korbin, and Miley Bonesteel, and Liam Reinbold , step-great-grandchildren McKayla, Kaysie, Kendra, and Lane Clements and nephews Roger, Harold, Darold and Gerald Crampton, Jim Shaffer Sr, Greg Connett,. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, December 23rd at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Burial will follow in the Robinson New Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 9am-11am on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to CMH Foundation or to the Crawford County Humane Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
