Beverly Armstrong

July 4, 1944 — July 26, 2018

Beverly Armstrong, 74, of Marshall, IL, formerly of Palestine, IL, died at 3:15 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2018 in the comfort of home with family by her side. She was born July 4, 1944 in Effingham, IL the daughter of Darvin & Louella (Curl) Wilder, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Raymond L. Armstrong on June 5, 1963, and he preceded her in death on March 26, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Debbie Wilder. She is survived by her sons, Tom Armstrong (Robinson, IL), Jerry Armstrong (Marshall, IL), and Stacey Armstrong (Ephrata, WA); by her daughter, Michelle Grable (Paris, IL); by seven grandchildren, Kylie Armstrong, Cody Armstrong, Kala Armstrong, Chandler Grable, Felicia Hardin, Matthew Connell, and Krissy Connell; by five great-grandchildren; by two brothers, Marvin Ray and Robert; by two sisters, Myrna and Glenda; by her brother-in-law, George Armstrong (Palestine, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. Bev grew up in the Effingham area and was a 1963 graduate of St. Anthony High School in Effingham. She would go on to work for a number of local businesses: as a waitress at the Sugar Bowl; a factory worker for Robinson Transformer, Jakel Motors, and Pioneer Label; a guard for Stewart Security; and as an attendant at Casey’s in Marshall. She worked just as hard inside the home as she did outside of it. Her house was always immaculate, a fact anyone who knew her could attest to. They would also tell you that Bev’s family was her life. She loved her children and grandchildren through thick and thin and ensured that they never went without. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 30th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31st at the funeral home with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
