Billy Ray Chilcote, 87, of Flat Rock, IL, left his earthly home at 9:05 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born November 24, 1926 in DeQueen, Arkansas, the third son of Edgar Paul & Mary Chilcote. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Paul and Mike, both of Robinson. He married Rosemary (Goff) Chilcote on September 4, 1948 and she preceded him in death in 1997. He missed her every day. Bill served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked for the Marathon Oil Company in Robinson for 42 years. Bill was a believer in Jesus Christ. He was a valued volunteer to the Robinson Food Pantry and to the Habitat for Humanity. He was a member of the Robinson American Legion. Bill is survived by three children: Marcia & husband Gary Walker (Pinehurst, NC), Cindy Baxter (Flat Rock, IL), and David Chilcote (Palestine, IL). He enjoyed the love of five grandchildren: Joshua Baxter, Jacob Baxter, Jessie (Baxter) Smith, Jennifer (Walker) McNeilly, and Alisha (Baxter) Wesner. His life was enriched by 9 great-grandchildren. A public graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6th at the Robinson New Cemetery, with Garry Branson speaking. Friends wishing to greet the family are invited to a small reception being held at the Cottage House in Robinson following the interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Robinson Public Library, with envelopes available at the service. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
