Bonnie Lu Nichols Byrley, 58, of Palestine, lost her brief battle with brain cancer on September 30th, 2014 at Carle Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was born February 7th, 1956, in Robinson, IL, the daughter of Robert Leo and Elenora Mae (Woods) Nichols. She attended Robinson High School and later worked in production at several local factories. More recently, she enjoyed donating time at JK’s Free Store in Palestine. She enjoyed spending time with her family, including her special dog, Gretchen. She also enjoyed gardening, riding in her golf cart, fishing and mushroom hunting. She married Rob Byrley on November 27th, 1990 and he survives of Palestine. She is also survived by her daughter Amber Byrley of Charleston, IL; her son DJ Byrley of Palestine; five sisters, Bobbie Nichols of Lawrenceville, Joyce (Wayne) Barrick of Robinson, Connie Nichols of Crawfordsville IN, Debbie (Harold “Buddy”) Bachelor of Robinson, and Rita VanWinkle of Robinson; five brothers, Donnie (Angie) Nichols of Robinson, Danny (Pam) Nichols of Robinson, Bill Nichols of Robinson, Roger Nichols of Robinson, and Floyd (Kathy) Woods of Oklahoma City OK; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law, Maxine Boyd; and brother-in-law William VanWinkle. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 3rd, 2014 at the Palestine Cemetery, with Pastor Tim Watson officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, with envelopes available at the service. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
