Bret Michael Henry

Bret Michael Henry, 43, of Palestine, IL, died Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born November 23, 1972 in Paris, IL, the son of Michael D. & Colleen M. (Billings) Henry, both of whom survive. He is also survived by his daughter, Makadan Henry (Oblong, IL); by his sister & brother-in-law, Julie & Travis Hancock (Sullivan, IN); by his nephews, Christopher Correll, Tristen Hancock, Seth Hancock, and Tanner Hancock (all of Sullivan); as well as by several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Donald B. & Lillian Henry and maternal grandparents, James and Marylene Billings. Bret was a 1991 graduate of Palestine High School, and furthered his education with an Associate’s of Science Degree from Lincoln Trail College. He went on to work various jobs as a laborer for Hershey in Robinson and Great Dane in Terre Haute, IN, among other jobs. Away from work, Bret could most often be found playing pool, and was well known for his skill around the pool table. He was the sole Chicago Cubs fan in the family. He will be sorely missed by his many family and friends. Bret’s legacy will live on in the lives of the many men and women who will benefit from the organs and tissue he donated. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 8th at the funeral home with Rev. Jim Williams officiating the service. Cremation will follow the service and burial will follow at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Makadan Henry Education Fund (with checks made payable to Julie Hancock), or to the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), with envelopes available at the funeral home.
