Camilla Joyce Parker, 82, of Flat Rock, IL died at 10:50 a.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 in the comfort of her home. She was born on February 5, 1931 in Flat Rock, the daughter of Robert L. Miller & Annabell Taylor Miller.Although raised in Flat Rock, Camilla lived in Tinley Park, Illinois before moving to her family farm in 1974. While in Tinley Park, she worked as a special education aide, a job that she loved and had great passion for. In the early 1970s, she was a founder of the Cook County Special Olympics and was awarded the Tinley Park Citizen of the Year award for her work with children with disabilities. While living in Flat Rock, she was most known for managing the Robinson Goodwill store, and later working at the Flat Rock Library.She was a member of the Robinson DAR, and past president of both the Tinley Park and Flat Rock American Legion Auxiliaries. She was also a former leader of the Flat Rock Rockets 4-H Club.On June 8, 1951, Camilla married Lester 'Paul' Parker who preceded her in death on October 14, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Leon Keith Miller; and her sister, Joann Hussey.She is survived by her four children & their spouses, Sharon & Bob Patterson (Midvale, Utah), Brad Parker (Jacksonville, Florida),Elaine & Larry Rodgers (Rural Robinson), and Randy & Dana Parker (Tulsa, Oklahoma). She leaves eight grandchildren, Andrew and Brian Patterson, Wesley Parker, Kensey Rodgers Lyons, Casey, Jameson, Blake and Brandon Parker; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Stephan Miller and Robbie Miller (Robinson); as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock. Burial will be held in the Jones Cemetery, rural Flat Rock. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society or to the Shriner Children€™s Hospital, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
