Carolyn Ellis

Carolyn Ellis, 76, of Palestine, died at 11:35 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2014 in Palestine. She was born August 20, 1937 in Palestine, the daughter of Earl Wesner & Mildred Lockhart Wesner. In her younger days, she worked at Shaner’s Ice Cream Shop. Much of her life was spent as a homemaker. Later on in life, Carolyn worked at Hogg Heaven BBQ in the kitchen at Hershey’s in Robinson and at the Casey’s General Store in Palestine. She was very involved in genealogy and kept track of local veteran’s deaths. She also loved reading, working on crossword puzzles, and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. Carolyn married Bob Ellis on March 17, 1962, and he preceded her in death on August 24, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Darrell Wesner; her sisters-in-law, Marilyn Wesner, Carol Dart and Sue Ellis; and her brothers-in-law, Gilbert (Buck) Ellis and Kenneth Dart. She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Jim & Trisha Ellis (Palestine); three daughters & sons-in-law, Barbara & Jerry, Sr. Pritchard, Mary Ellis & her companion, Tommy Woodward, Jr. (Palestine), and Molly & Robert Decker (Buckeye, AZ); her grandchildren, Trevor Wright, Shelby Decker, Abagail Decker, Matthew Ellis, Justin Ellis, and Micheal Hamlin; her step-grandchildren, Kim & Arnold Herman, Cory & Amber Pritchard, and Jerry, Jr & Christy Pritchard; her great-granddaughter, Nekeya Pritchard; her brother & sister-in-law, Craig & Lyndell Wesner; her sister-in-law, Ruth & Joe Accardo; as well as several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 28th at the East Union Cemetery, rural Palestine. Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice and to the Palestine Public Library with envelopes available at the funeral home.
