Carolyn Fagin

Carolyn Fagin, 74, of Stoy, IL, died at 12:25 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017. She was born June 20, 1942 in Robinson, the daughter of Raymond & Ruby Hightshoe, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Joseph D. Fagin on November 8, 1958, and he preceded her in death on August 11, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Hightshoe; by her sister, Lois Hightshoe in infancy; and by her granddaughter, Elizabeth Fagin. She is survived by three sons, Patrick Fagin (Stoy, IL) Joseph, Jr. & Dawn Fagin (Olney, IL), and Donald Eugene & Ashley Fagin (Olney, IL); by two daughters, Carol Jo & Greg Hahn (Minnesota), and Sarah & Mark Hussey (rural Flat Rock, IL); by eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; by her sister, Marjory Dart (Oblong, IL); by her brother, David Hightshoe (Hammond, IN); as well as several nieces and nephews. Carolyn was a graduate of Robinson High School and went on to spend the next 24 years as a soldier’s wife, having seen the world in the process. She and her family lived all over the United States, as well as Germany and Italy. This fed into her love of travel. No matter where she was, she worked hard as a CNA, and cared for countless people through the years in this capacity. Her free time was often spent outdoors, and she especially enjoyed fishing and camping. In her younger days, Carolyn could have been found barrel-racing, bowling, or playing softball. She was also an avid gardener. In her later years, she loved going to church, and attended a number of area churches. More than anything, she loved spending time with her friends and her family, and always looked forward to spending Sunday dinner with those she loved dearly. A time of visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will immediately follow and will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine.
