Charles Alger

Charles Alger, 71, of Robinson, IL, died on May 1, 2022, after years of battling Lyme Disease. He was the son of Joseph Alger and Hazell Goodwin Alger, both deceased.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki York; his son, Paul Alger; his twin grandsons, Collin and Korbin Alger; his sisters Ruth (Jim) Vucich and Jayne (Pat) Adams; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Charlie was born January 3, 1951, and grew up in Palestine, IL. He graduated from Palestine High School and attended Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL. He worked at several different jobs, including mowing roadways for Lamotte Township in Palestine and truck driving, both locally and long haul. His favorite job was working in the fields as a farmhand for several local farmers.

Charlie was an easy-going, happy-go-lucky guy who lived life on his own terms. He was honest and loyal, patient and friendly. Slow to anger, he never held a grudge and he never complained, even as his health deteriorated. He loved to be outside, often fishing or hunting, especially squirrel and rabbit. He enjoyed woodworking and carpentry. He loved spending time with his son, Paul, of whom he was so proud.

Charlie wished to be cremated and wanted no services. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of his cremation arrangements. He will be fondly remembered by those who knew him and sadly missed by those who loved him.
