Charles "Artie" Parkhurst

Charles A. 'Artie' Parkhurst, 73, of Robinson, died at 12:19 a.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon. He was born March 16, 1940 in Effingham, IL, the son of Charles Leonard Parkhurst and Iva B. Wines Parkhurst. Artie was a truck driver and enjoyed his 37 years on the road. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and fishing with all of them.Artie married Donna M. Walker on June 4, 1960, and she survives. He is also survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Gregory A. & Jill Parkhurst; his daughters & sons-in-law, Carol & Joe Hepner, and Christine & Marcus Murray; four grandchildren, Justin Parkhurst, Patrick Parkhurst, Josh Hepner, and Ivy Ann Murray; his brother, Leonard Parkhurst; his sister, May Schome; as well as several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Robert, Richard, and Donald Parkhurst; and his sister, Ann Fugate.Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 16th at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Robinson, with Father Aloysius Okey Ndeanaefo to officiate the service. Private burial will be held at a later date. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
