Charles "Charlie" Elder

Charles "Charlie" Elder, 83, of Palestine, IL, died at 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Heritage Health in Robinson, IL. He was born March 24, 1933 in Palestine, the son of Noble Elder & Odrus Turner Elder, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jack Elder; by his sister-in-law, Betty Elder; and by a niece in infancy. He is survived by his sister, Sarah Kimberlin (Palestine, IL); by his brother, George Elder (Palestine, IL); and by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Charlie was a staple of the Palestine community for many years and he loved spending time uptown. A time of visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, with burial following in the Palestine Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Riley Hospital for Children, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
