Charles W. Hawkins

Charles W. Hawkins, 75, of Robinson, IL died at 11:15 a.m. (E.S.T.) on August 20, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN after many months of failing health. He was born August 21, 1935 in Robinson, the son of Ira Hawkins and Velma Nash. He was a graduate of Robinson High School, a member of the class of 1953. After school, he joined the military, serving his country in the U.S. Army in the 32nd Combat Engineers under the U.S. Army Missile Command. Upon his return home, Charles went to work at Briggs Pottery, where he worked in production for 50 years.He married Kay Lingafelter on December 31, 1995 and she survives. Also surviving are two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert & Pat Hawkins (Hutsonville) and Joe & RaeJean Nash (Palestine); as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister in infancy.A private family graveside service will be held at the Robinson New Cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home is in charge of services.
