Christine E. Turner, 94, of Robinson, IL, died at 5:20 a.m. on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Heritage Health in Robinson, IL. She was born August 24, 1922 in Robinson, the daughter of John & Nelie (Hastings) Turner, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Max Turner; by her sisters, Irene Connor, Peggy Walton, and Elsie Turner; and by her niece, Sherri Lewis. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Christine was a graduate of Robinson High School. Out of school, she proudly served her country in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. She worked hard all of her life, having spent a number of years at the Robinson Bowling Alley before moving on to the Moose Lodge, where she worked in the kitchen before retiring at the age of 80. When she wasn’t working, she could almost always be found with a book in her hand. Although she never had children of her own, she had a hand in helping raise a number of her nieces and nephews. While she could be a stern disciplinarian, her family will long remember Christine as a loving aunt whose door was always open. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9th at the Hutsonville Cemetery in Hutsonville, IL. Military services will be conducted by the combined units of the Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549, American Legion Post #69, and Marine Corps League Det #546, and the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132. Memorials may be made to the Robinson Public Library, with envelopes available at the cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
