Christopher Bell Pappageorge

November 10, 1946 — July 1, 2016

Christopher Bell Pappageorge, born in Cook County, Illinois November 10, 1946, the son of S. Charles Pappageorge and Marsha Good Pappageorge, went home to be with the Lord on July 1, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Deborah on December 25, 1952; and a brother, Jonathan on January 4, 1989. Chris married Marie Hart on October 27, 1976, and she survives. He is also survived by his son, Kenneth Pappageorge; his step-son, Robert Lamb; three grandkids, Will, Stephen and Dannielle Lamb; sisters-in-law, Ruth Goodwin and family, Deloris Lanham and family and sister-in-law and husband, Mary Jane and Larry Cawood and family; brother-in-law, Allen Hart and family; as well as extended family on the east coast. Chris attended Robinson High School and military school. He achieved a Bachelor of Arts from Webster College on May 10, 1975. Chris served in the United States Navy as a Naval Corpsman from 1968-1970, and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal. He attended U. S. Naval Hospital Corps School and completed in 1968. L.R. Lorden, CDR, USN evaluated his performance as follows: 'Pappageorge is of great value to the ships medical Department. His knowledge of First Aid and the care of the sick and injured is outstanding. He expresses himself very well both orally and in writing. His attitude toward his shipmates makes it a pleasure to work with him.' Chris served on the USS Leahy (DLG16) and the USS Independence (CVA-62). After an honorable discharge, he worked in a nursing home as an administrator and as a nursing teacher at Webster College, St Louis, MO. After his father's death in 1994, Chris retired from Marathon after 20 years, where he worked on both the Unicracker and on the project hazards management team. For the last 22 years, Chris has been the fourth-generation owner and operator of his family's oil company, Bell Brothers, which was started in 1894. Chris was a loving, caring husband and father. He was very generous with his time and his quick wit. He could always bring a smile to your face. He will be forever loved and dearly missed by his family and friends. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on July 7th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. A twilight service will follow, and will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Bro. Joe Griffith officiating the service. Military rites will be conducted by the combined Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, Robinson American Legion Post #69, Flat Rock American Legion Post #132, and Palestine AmVets Post #33. Memorials may be made to the Robinson Food Pantry or to the Ark of the Covenant Soup Kitchen, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
