Clara A. Waldrop, 99, of Palestine, IL died 5:50 a.m. on Sunday August 13, 2017 at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL. She was born on April 10, 1918 in Oblong IL, the daughter of James & Mima (Curry) Waldrop, both whom preceded her in death. She married Ralph Waldrop in 1959 and he preceded her in death in 1980. She was also preceded in death by her son, David Harris. She is survived by her daughter, Freda Goff (Palestine, IL); by four grandchildren, David Goff (Palestine, IL), Steve Goff (Palestine, IL), Chad Harris (Newton, IL) and Kari Harris (Altamont, IL); several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Clara worked in housekeeping at Crawford Memorial Hospital for many years. Away from work, few things brought her more joy than simply sitting out on her front porch swing, watching the world go by. She was also known to play Bingo at the Eagles, where she was a longtime and active member. Though she was ornery and more than a little stubborn, no one will ever doubt the love she had for her family, especially her grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great-grandkids. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16th at the Palestine Cemetery, with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating the services. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
