Clarence "Sonny" Mann, Jr.

Clarence E. 'Sonny' Mann, Jr., 78, of Robinson, IL, died at 11:20 a.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at the Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson. He was born August 28, 1937 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Clarence Mann, Sr. & Evelyn (Woodruff) Mann. Sonny married Monica Hall on August 28, 1958, and she survives. He is also survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Gregg & Stephanie Mann (Palestine, IL); by his daughter, Sherri Murray (Robinson, IL); by his grandchildren & their spouses, Stacey & Andy Weger, Chadd & Beth Murray, Kaycee & Curtis Rodgers, Kenzi & Marcus Deckard, Lenzi & Nick Ippolito, and Paige & Randy Krick; by twelve great-grandchildren; by his brother, Bob Mann (Terre Haute, IN); by his sisters & brothers-in-law, Lula Bell & Raymond Sumner (Terre Haute, IN), and Nancy & John Lawson (Terre Haute, IN); as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his son-in-law, Kevin Murray. Sonny was a 1955 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School in Terre Haute. He went on to own and operate R&L Ready Mix Concrete from 1961 until 2013. Much of the business’ success can be attributed to Sonny’s tireless work ethic. Away from work, he could often be found boating and traveling. He and Monica traveled around the world, visiting many countries in Asia and South America, and also loved taking their motorhome to Fort Meyers, Florida. More than anything, Sonny enjoyed spending time with his family, who he dearly loved. He was a good man who lived a very fulfilling life. He was a lifetime member of the Robinson Elks Lodge #1188. His family will have private services before he is buried at the Robinson New Cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, or to the Kevin H. Murray Scholarship Fund, with checks made payable to Sherri Murray. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
