Clarese Fox, 67, of Shelbyville, IL, died on July 26, 2021, at Shelbyville Manor. She was born August 26, 1953, in San Diego, CA, the daughter of Clarence & Helen (Adams) Porter. She grew up in El Cajon, CA, and was a 1971 Graduate of El Cajon Valley High School. She would eventually marry Ralph Fox on June 21, 1980, and they enjoyed 41 years of loving partnership before her passing. One of their favorite pastimes was watching football and basketball games together. They were enthusiastic Eastern Illinois University and University of Illinois fans and were known to attend games while she was able. Sports weren't her only interest. Anyone blessed enough to know this precious soul could attest to her creative prowess. She possessed the hands of an artist, having made numerous ceramic pieces and wood carvings through the years. Her love of knitting and quilting ran so deep that she had her own shop, Lakeside Knits & Cross Stitch. Here, she handed down her knowledge by regularly teaching others the art of knitting. Clarese had a magnetism about her that drew others in and was one of those rare persons who could make friends with anyone, anywhere. They could never forget her others-centered nature, nor the beauty and light she poured into the world. Left behind to mourn her passing are her husband, Ralph Fox (Shelbyville, IL); her mother, Helen Porter (San Diego, CA); her sisters, Nicki Freeman (Gardendale, TX), Jody Cecil (Thailand), and Helen Ravanelli (Vista, CA); her brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Wylie & Patrice Fox (Dixon, IL); her sister-in-law, Beatrice Hall (Decatur, IL); as well as seven nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 2nd, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 3rd, with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating. A live stream of Clarese's service will be available on Goodwine Funeral Homes' Facebook page or by going to https://www.goodwinefuneralhomes.com/live-stream/live-stream . Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the "American Heart Association" with envelopes available at the funeral home.
