Cleo Thackrey

Verna Cleo Thackrey, 90, of Robinson, IL, died at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Timbercreek Village in Robinson. She was born January 13, 1926 in Burnt Prairie, IL, the daughter of Elmer Leo Cox & Carrie Harl Cox, both of whom preceded her in death. Cleo was a 1944 graduate of Fairfield High School. She married David Thackrey on January 25, 1946. She worked for Airtex in Fairfield for 11 years before becoming a full-time mother. She is survived by her son, Gary (Elaine) Thackrey of Martinsville, IL; by her grandchildren, Traci (Scott) Raper of Springfield, IL and Ian Thackrey of Huntingburg, IN; by her step-granddaughter, Tabitha Smith of Terre Haute, IN; and by three great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband, David Thackrey on February 14, 2004. Cleo was a devout Christian and a member of Highland Avenue Baptist Church in Robinson. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 8th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9th at the funeral home with Rev. Dwight McDaniel officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Robinson New Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Reed officiating. Memorials may be made to the Highland Avenue Baptist Church, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
