Connie McCord, 65, of Palestine, IL, passed away peacefully at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2017 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her beloved family. She was born July 27, 1951 in Robinson, IL, the daughter of William B. Calvert & Mary L. (Wilson) Calvert, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Linda Kaiser and by her nephew, Randy Reynolds. She married Larry McCord on Sept. 18, 1986 and he survives. She is also survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Mike & Hope Kennedy (Palestine, IL), Dustin & Tammy Kennedy (Palestine, IL), and Scott & Julie McCord (Elberfeld, IN); by her grandchildren, Tyler Kennedy (Palestine, IL), Nicholas Kennedy (Bloomington, IN), Haley Kennedy (Champaign, IL), Wyatt Kennedy (Palestine, IL), Alysa Kennedy (Palestine, IL), and Harley Marie McCord (Elberfeld, IN); by her great-grandchildren, Taylor Grace Kennedy (Bloomington, IN), RaeLynn Faith Kennedy (Bloomington, IN), and Harper Lee Kennedy (Bloomington, IN); by her brothers & sisters-in-law, Butch & Pam Calvert (Palestine, IL) and Billy & Connie Calvert (Robinson, IL); by her sisters & brothers-in-law, Twila & Roger Reynolds (Robinson, IL), Nikki & James Newell (Robinson, IL), Vicky Calvert & Tom Longstaff (Reno, NV), Barbara & Mike Weck (Robinson, IL); as well as by countless others. Everybody was Connie's friend and family; they were all special to her. Connie was a graduate of Robinson High School. She dedicated much of the rest of her life to being the designated “Mimi” of the neighborhood, and was a beloved mother and grandmother figure to so many. In her free time, she was an avid gardener, landscaper, interior decorator, and artist. She was an active member of her granddaughter Haley's Flower Club and of the Breakfast Club she shared with members of her class. A private family service will be held at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
