Curt Armstrong, 64, of Palestine, IL, went home to be with our Lord at 4:52 a.m. (EST) on Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. He was born June 21, 1952 in Manhattan, KS, the son of Harry Armstrong, Sr. & Betty (Cook) Armstrong, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Harry Armstrong, Jr.; by his step-son, Tanner Harvey; and by his granddaughter, Irish Grace. He married Deb Martin on August 2, 2003 and she survives. He is also survived by his daughters & sons-in-law, Tiffany & Justin Musselwhite (Hutsonville, IL) and Ashlee & Justin Hatten (Olney, IL); and by his step-son, Tucker Harvey (Evansville, IN). He was a devoted Pawpaw to Sailor Musselwhite, Scout Musselwhite, and Masen Hatten. His brother, Scott Armstrong (Villa Ridge, IL); and Julia Washam (TX) also survive, as do several nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Curt was a 1970 graduate of Camelot High School in Cairo, IL. He furthered his education at Shawnee College. He went on to work in the grocery business for many years as a manager before being hired on as a prison guard in Robinson, IL in 1990. He retired on January 1, 2011 to become a full-time “Pawpaw”, a title he held dearly for the rest of his life. Away from work, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and even took a fishing trip or two to Canada. Curt was an avid organic gardener, and would plant anything and everything he could get his hands on, and was something of an amateur botanist. He was also quite the history buff, and was especially interested in the Civil War. Anyone who knew him could attest to the fact that he was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. Curt will be remembered as a humble man who lived with an unwavering faith and an undying loyalty to his beloved family. A time of visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10th at the Trimble Bible Church. A celebration of Curt’s life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, with Pastor David Hyde officiating the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trimble Bible Church, with envelopes available at the church. A private family burial will take place at a later date at the Palestine Cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
