Dale Poorman, 81, of West Union, IL passed away August 6th, 2014 at 10:10am in the comfort of his home. He was born January 29th, 1933, the son of Marion Robert and Areatha Earnestine (Monk) Poorman in York Township. He served his country in the US Army and went on to belong to the American Legion Post #1130. He was also a charter member of the Ruritan Club, served on the Hutsonville School Board, was the Road Commissioner for 21 years, was a member of the Clark County ASCS Committee for 20 years. Dale was a farmer, a Pioneer Seed salesman and also worked for Strohm Oil as a truck driver. He was a member of the West Union Christian Church. He enjoyed spending time with family, children and attending his grandchildren’s events. He married Carolyn Gurley on July 24, 1954 and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Brenda & Steve Atwood; his son & daughter-in-law Ronnie & Bridget Poorman; his daughter-in-law, Pam Poorman; his grandchildren, Eric & Missy Atwood, Krista & Kevin Schulte, Jodi & Matthew Davison, Andy & Jamie Poorman, Kaycee Poorman, Chase Poorman and Paige Poorman; his great-grandchildren, Alayna and Nathan Atwood, Reagan, Reese and Nya Schulte, and Kaylynn and Carter Davison; his brothers and sisters, Kenny & Elizabeth St. John, Martha & Jerry Lindley, Randy & Sharon Poorman, and Paul & Nancy Poorman; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lester Joe Poorman; his sister, Phyllis Poorman Wampler; his son, Richard Dale Poorman; and his daughter, Jodi Diane Poorman. Funeral services will be held at 4:00pm on Saturday, August 9th, 2014 at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union IL with Pastor Ken Gillaspy officiating. Burial will follow at the Harrison Cemetery in rural West Union. There will be a time of visitation from 12:00pm until service time at 4:00pm on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Union Christian Church, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
