Danny "Duke" Ramsey, 56, of Bridgeport, IL, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at The Haven of Bridgeport. He was born on January 12, 1969, in Robinson, IL, and raised in Palestine, where backroads and open fields served as the backdrop for some of his earliest joys. Before life shifted, he was most at home on a four-wheeler or a motorcycle, riding with the kind of freedom that made sense to him. He graduated from Palestine High School in 1987 and committed himself to serving in the United States Air Force, and he carried that service with quiet pride.
He worked at Marathon Tire until a traumatic accident changed what his days looked like. In the years that followed, Danny's world narrowed, but the love within it only grew stronger. He drew close to his mom, Skeet, and she to him. After his parents passed, he and his sister Darlene held tightly to each other in a way only siblings can. Their bond became one of the constants in his life. Danny also had a soft spot for the kids in the family, and his nieces and nephews knew him as something like a second dad.
As we release him, we hold to the gentle hope that he is restored, whole, and fully at peace.
Danny is survived by his sisters, Darlene (David) Cornell of Vincennes, IN, and Dee Stifle of Robinson, IL, and has been recently reunited with siblings, Tammy Flippin, Paula Parent, Tina Quall, Vickie Houser, and Vince Burress. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Lori Ramsey, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren Sr. and Ernestine "Skeet" Ramsey; his brother, Loren "Sonny" Ramsey Jr.; his nephews, TJ Watts and Bentley Mockler; and his niece, Charlee Harris.
A private burial will be held at a later date at the Oak Grove Cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is assisting the family at this time.
