David J. Allison

December 31, 1951 — June 29, 2015

David J. Allison, 63, passed away on June 29, 2015 in Denver, where he had lived and worked as a paralegal for over two decades. David grew up in Elburn, IL with his family and a menagerie of pets, including dogs, cats, a pony, monkeys, reptiles, fishes, and other exotic creatures. He graduated from Kaneland High School in 1969 and received a Bachelor’s degree in political science from Northern Illinois University in 1973. David was an avid traveler who loved rock ‘n roll music and spending time with his family and friends. He was a great fan of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and Eric Clapton, having recently attended several concerts this summer. He loved animals and nature, making frequent trips to zoos, the mountains, jungles, and beaches throughout the world. David served as a Methodist Lay Minister and was passionate about preaching the gospels of Jesus Christ. He made friends wherever he went and his humor, compassion, and spirit will be greatly missed. David is survived by his daughter, Sarah Allison and husband Paul McGuire; sisters, Lorelei (Raymond) Conrad and Susan DeSousa; niece Alexandra DeSousa and husband Michael Proulx; nephews Vasco (Rosie) DeSousa and Andrew (Aya) DeSousa. David is preceded in death by his father Robert Allison and mother June Allison Budd. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18th at the Jones Cemetery in rural Flat Rock, with Celebrant Curt Goodwine to officiate the service.
