David Lee Roberts

David Lee Roberts, 72, of Annapolis, passed away at his home with family on June 8th, 2014 at 7:00am after a battle with cancer. He was born April 1st, 1942, in Jasper County, the son of Harley and Bertha Roberts. He retired from the Robinson Township in 2002, where he worked for many years. He served as a referee and umpire for 26 years. He belonged to the American Legion Post 69, where he served on the Executive Board. He is remembered for his work with horses, and his devotion to the Green Bay Packers. David married Gladys Bowman on June 2nd, 1961, and she survives of Annapolis. He is also survived by his children; Gary and Vivian Roberts of Robinson, Greg and Jeanae Roberts of West York, and Rita and Clint Corder of Robinson, his grandchildren Mandy and Brett Higginbotham, Matt and Kristin Noblitt, Heather Roberts and fianc Zac Stephens, Seth Bayless, JJ and Shawna Roberts, Ashley Corder and significant other Elija Plummer, Ryan Roberts and significant other Christie Campbell, Madison Bayless, and Parker Corder. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Gary, Brenna, Reese, Brock, Adalynn and Maddux, his sister Carolyn and husband Lenard Neibarger of Deland, brother Bob and Sue Roberts of Robinson, sister Connie Unger and late husband Richard, of Sullivan IN, sister Betty Griffith of Hutsonville, brother Danny and Ceselie Roberts of Urbana, brother Randy and Danette of Pulaski TN, brother Rod Roberts of Robinson, and several nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Peggy Kirton, and his grandson Bryant Roberts. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, June 12th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, with Pastor JD Branson officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation on Wednesday, June 11th from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Memorials may be made to the Robinson Booster Club or to the Hutsonville Booster Club, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
