Dean Jr. Ellington

Dean Ellington, Jr., 77, of Martinsville died at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Serenity Home in Oregon, IL. He was born April 23, 1935 in Martinsville, IL the son of Dean Larraine Ellington & Mina Towell Ellington. Dean worked for Caterpillar for several years before retiring and moving back to Clark County. Locally, he was a longtime and very active in the First Christian Church in Martinsville. Dean was a passionate man who enjoyed camping, loved amusement parks and spending time with his family and his friends.He is survived by his four daughters and his sons-in-law, Debra Ellington (Mattoon, IL), Sherri & Joel Pyle (Somonauk, IL), Kim & Tim Dougherty (Rochelle, IL) and Karla &Gary Barr (Plano, IL); nine grandchildren and their spouses, Tera & Chad Arnold, Amber & Jason Matile, Nikki Pyle, Courtney & David Jones, Curtis Helgren, Katherine & Ryan Carlson, Jacob Dougherty, Megan & Joshua Schultz, and Aaron Barr; five great-grandchildren; and his sister & brother-in-law, Annalee & Carroll Robertson (Martinsville, IL).Dean was preceded in death by his parents; his nephew, Doug Robertson; and his great-grandchild, Jacob Arnold.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 21st at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union. Burial will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, rural Martinsville. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
