Donald A. Shears

Donald A. Shears, 81 of Robinson, IL, died at St. Anthony Hospital in Effingham, at 6:31 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2010 after an extended illness. He was born November 30, 1928 in Allendale, IL, the son of Fred Shears and Clara Anderson Shears. Don was the Office Agent Dispatcher for the Illinois Central Railroad, and was a member of the Palestine Masonic Lodge #849, the Danville Consistory, and the Robinson First Christian Church Disciples of Christ.Don married Martha Jane Griggs on November 21, 1947 and she preceded him in death on January 18, 2002. He was also preceded by his parents and 2 brothers, Roland Shears and Rex Anderson.He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Steve Lorance, Robinson; 2 grandchildren, Ron and his wife Amy Lorance, Robinson and Jodi Kraay, Nashville, TN; 4 great grandchildren, Jacob and Kobe Lorance, Robinson; Ashlee and Dylan Kraay, Nashville, Tn; his sister-in-law, Norma Anderson, Kingman, IN; and several nephews.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 11th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Rev. Tom Akers is in charge of services. Burial is in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 10th, and from 8:00 a.m. to service time on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the Robinson First Christian Church Disciples of Christ with envelopes at the funeral home.
