Donald Eugene Ziegler

Donald Eugene Ziegler, 73, of Robinson, IL, died at 1:50 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2016 at his home in Robinson. He was born February 24, 1943 in Robinson, the son of Lester & Nellie (Coler) Ziegler, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Wilson; and his brother, Robert L. Ziegler. He is survived by his former wife, Mary Ziegler (Robinson, IL); by his four children, Loretta & John Taylor (Maysville, NC), Cleo & Cathy Ziegler (Robinson, IL), Donald Ziegler (Robinson, IL), and Robert & Jamie Ziegler (Robinson, IL); as well as 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Don worked for City of Robinson for 23 years before retiring in the 1990s. Away from work, he could be found playing cards or working crossword puzzles. He was a dedicated father, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apples of his eye. His family has lost a patriarch, mentor, and friend. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 1st at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Private burial will follow at a later date in the Palestine Cemetery.
