Donald K. Magill, 86, of Oklahoma City, OK, formerly of Palestine, IL, died at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman, OK at 12:45 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012. He was born June 18, 1925 in Palestine, IL, the son of Lester K. Magill and Kate (Miesenhelder) Magill. Don was a member of the Palestine Presbyterian Church, a past Elder and Trustee of the Church, and a member and past President of the Palestine Chamber of Commerce, was €œMan of the Year€ for the Palestine Chamber and €œEmployer of the Year€ for the Robinson Chamber of Commerce and served on the Board of Directors of the Farmer€™s State Bank in Palestine. He owned and operated Magill Hardware and Furniture in Palestine and Magill Furniture in Robinson for 52 years. He served in the U. S. Army in Europe for 3 years during WWII.He married Dorothy Lami December 20, 1948 and she preceded him in death on November 29, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael in 1990; and his brother, Robert in 1998.Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Debbie in Oklahoma, City, OK; his 2 grandchildren, Alison and Matthew; and his sister-in-law, Evelyn Magill, Palestine.Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 30th at 10:30 a.m. at the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 28th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Palestine Development Association or to the Alzheimer€™s Association with envelopes at the funeral home.
