Donald Lee Maxwell

Donald Lee Maxwell, 87, of Robinson, IL died at 11:17 a.m. on December 4, 2013 in the comfort of his home. He was born November 6, 1926 in Robinson, the son of Reid Maxwell & Mary (Berry) Maxwell. Upon graduating from Flat Rock, IL in 1944, Don joined the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. In 1956, he moved to California where he was the superintendent for Utility Trailer.Having been baptized earlier in life, he recently rededicated his life to his Lord. He married Wilma (Ferguson) Shank on October 21st, 2002 and she survives. Also surviving is a sister, Barbara Steen of CA; brother Clark Maxwell and wife Shirley of CA; sister Janice Coan and husband Tom of CA; sister Joan Lowe and husband Jack of Arlington TX; 2 sister-in-laws, Marjorie Maxwell and Lois Maxwell; brother Wilfred Maxwell and wife LaVene of Flat Rock; four children & their spouses, David Maxwell of CA, Randy & Kathy Maxwell of CA, Richard & Debbie Maxwell of CA, Donna Maxwell of CA; a step-son John Shank of IN; five grandchildren; one step-grandson; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his infant son James Edward Maxwell; his brothers Gaylord Maxwell of Idaho and Kenneth Maxwell of Arcola, IL; and his sister Nedra Jenkins of NC.The family would like to thank a number of his doctors for their continued concern and care throughout the course of Don€™s illness. Funeral service for Mr. Maxwell will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, December 13th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson with Bros. Skip Thomas & Joe Griffith officiating. Burial will follow at the Seceder-Maxwell Cemetery in rural Flat Rock. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 12th, from 5:00-7:00 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the MD Anderson Cancer Center or Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Foundation, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
