Donald P. Hepner, 83, of Flat Rock, died at 4:54 p.m. on August 18, 2012 at his residence. He was born August 29, 1928 in Flat Rock, IL, the son of Charles Dale Hepner and Elsie Pauline Lewis Hepner. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He worked at Point Pleasant in Jasper County, FS in Illinois for 25 years, Associated Grocers Coop in Riverdale, GA, and Country Companies Insurance. He was a former mayor of Flat Rock and was a member of the Flat Rock United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee for 6 years.Don married Wilma Dean Miller, July 11, 1950 and she preceded him in death on December 14, 1994. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harry Hepner and Arthur Hepner; and his sister, Dixie Best.He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy & Gary Bollin, (Kingston, NY); 3 sons and daughters-in-law, James D. & Susan Hepner (Chicago, IL), John & Colleen Hepner (Arlington Heights, IL), Joseph & Carol Hepner (Robinson); 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert & Sue Hepner (Valparaiso, IN), Jerry Hepner (Martinsville); 2 sisters and his brother-in-law, Cleo Lawson (Flat Rock), Dorothy Ann & Don Sanger, (Martinsville); his sisters-in-law, Nancy Hepner (Jacksonville, FL) and Betty Gaarder (Sherman, TX); his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donna & Gary Branson (Flat Rock) Walter & Elaine Miller (Lawrenceville) and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22nd at the Flat Rock United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Haley officiating. Burial will be in the Jones Cemetery, rural Flat Rock. Military graveside services will be conducted by the combined units of the Palestine AmVets Post #33, Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, Robinson American Legion Post #69, and Flat Rock American Legion Post #132. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21st at the church. Memorials may be made to the Flat Rock United Methodist Church with envelopes available at the church.
