Dorothy Louise Green

Dorothy Louise Green, 87, of Robinson, IL died at 3:11 a.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, IL. She was born on July 23, 1930 in Landes, IL, the daughter of Roy & Rebecca (Littlejohn) Thompson, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Donald Green on May 18, 1954, and he preceded her in death in 1985. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Millie Collins, Fern Wilson, Mary Fitz, and Rosella Badgley; and by her brother William Carol Thompson. She is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Daniel & Becky Green (Robinson, IL) and Michael & Sherry Green (Flat Rock, IL); by her 5 grandchildren, Mathew Green, Lindsey Robbins, Shara Keen, Shane Green, and Logan Green; by her great-grandchildren, Sadie Robbins, Ozella Green, Maeve Green, Lettie Robbins, and Tegan Keen; as well as several nieces and nephews. Dorothy grew up in Robinson and attended Robinson High School. She went on to work at L.S. Heath & Sons for a time before moving on to the Robinson Red & White, where she worked for 30 years as a cashier. Away from work, she spent much of her time outside. Although she didn’t believe she had a green thumb, Dorothy always had such beautiful flowers around the house. If her hands weren’t busy gardening, they were holding a cup of coffee, as anyone who knew her could attest. Her retirement years found Dorothy living and breathing for her grandchildren. There was simply nothing on earth she loved more. She attended the Robinson Free Methodist Church for many, many years. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 20th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will immediately follow and will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Robinson New Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
