Dr. William “Kip” Bedwell passed away unexpectedly on October 21, 2017. Kip was born in Sullivan, IN on March 10, 1956 to Jesse and Barbara (Roberts) Bedwell. He married his high school sweetheart, Leah Monroe, of Carlisle, IN on October 21, 1978. An avid Hoosier, Kip graduated from Indiana University School of Optometry in 1985. Upon graduation, he moved to Robinson, IL where he practiced optometry for 32 years. Kip loved many things in life, but few were as important to him as family, his place in Canada, his dogs, and jeeps. As his optometry career was entering its twilight, his passion turned to beer. In August of this year he opened The Vincennes Brewing Company with his son Charlie and brewer Chris Coffey. He was also a longtime member of The First Christian Church DC, the local Lions club and the Eastern Illinois Optometric Society. Kip was preceded in death by his father and sister, Betsy. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Leah; by his mother, Bobbe; by his sister, Laura (Jim) Sims; by his children, Anna (Michael) Johnson, Meredith, and Charlie; by his granddaughter, Nora Johnson; as well as his nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at Quail Creek Country Club on Tuesday, October 24th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. to celebrate his life. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, Kip’s family requested donations to be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, with envelopes available at both the Country Club and funeral home.
